Biggest Events In Golf: The Major’s

The big boys of golf battle it out often when it comes to golf but there are four main tournaments of the year in which they really go at each other to try and get ahead of one another in the overall rankings. Tiger Woods has managed to win 14 majors and he is only second to Jack Nicklaus who has won 18. Here are the biggest golfing events of the year! Get those golf trolley batteries charged up and get ready to go!

Masters Tournament

this one has always been of an invitational purpose and played at the Augusta club in Georgia USA. this course has been home to this tournament since 1934 and has been up there for the top golf course for a while, something I really do disagree on! each hole on this course is actually named after a tree or shrub which adds a little touch to things, the first hole is named Tea Olive to give an example. fans and players can get familiar with this quite quickly because it is the only major that does not change location year on year. After the end of this you will need to charge those leisure batteries!

US Open Championship

This event can be held in various locations across the USA and is hosted by the USGA. It is held in June. this one is harder to play because it is held in a different place, it is great that the fans get to experience courses that they would not be getting into otherwise. No marine batteries in site for this course!

Open Championship

this is the one that is held in the UK each year and it is not in the same location each year. this year it was played at St Andrews, the oldest course in the world. This one is always played in July.

PGA Championship

this is the final major in the year and is played in August, it can also be played in a variety of places in the US.
