Quail Hollow Championship 2010 Begins
The Quail Hollow Championship 2010 has begun, and ordinarily people care about the skill involved in a golf tournament. There is an incredible amount of attention concerning Tiger Woods, but Tiger isn’t in the top ten on the leader board; he is not even close. That said, the payout is more than $ 1.5 million, quite a sum of payday cash for taking the win.
The Quail Hollow Championship 2010
The Quail Hollow Championship 2010 is actually a new name. From 2003 to 2009, it was the Wachovia Championship, but that changed when Wells Fargo bought Wachovia. The site is the Quail Hollow Club, in Charlotte, North Carolina. According to the PGA Website, the winner of the Masters of the last two years has lost horribly at Quail Hollow, and Phil Mickelson is aiming to beat the curse.
OK, let’s get the Tiger Woods business out of the way
Since professional golf coverage these days seems to trend away from sport and to a certain under-performing, errant philanderer, we’ll just go ahead and get on with it. Tiger Woods finished, though he’s in danger of not making the cut, with a two over par. He’s currently tied for 102nd place. I remind everyone he did not win the Masters, and at Quail sent several shots into the drink. (Though he did shoot an 11 under, which is still pretty good.)
Who is in the lead?
The current leader is Bo Van Pelt, according to the PGA leaderboard, with a 7 under par. He sank seven birdies. Billy Mayfair is behind him with four under, and also had seven birdies but three bogey. Phil Mickelson is 2 under par, having a pair of birdies. The Quail Hollow Championship 2010 could still be anyone’s tournament since it’s only the first round.
