Your Key To Hitting A Draw

While on a golf course there are times when the ball is observed as tracing a curve from right to left with the intention of avoiding obstructions impeding its path. Technical jargon relevant to golf describes it as hitting a draw and this shot can be successfully accomplished by the golfer if he is attentive towards his alignment and stance with respect to the target.

For a golfer to hit a draw, first it is imperative to visualize the path of ball flight because it is this analysis which will pinpoint the target. Secondly, contact with the ball should be made with the closed club face, preferably with a six or seven iron club so that the ball spins in the anticlockwise direction. Ultimately it is the choice of the club which determines the loft of the ball.

The hands will need to be placed properly on the golf club. Place your hands on the club in the clockwise direction. Now make sure just to the right of the center line rests your thumb. When looking down the club you will know you have the proper grip if you see more of your left hand. Finally grip the club tightly while keeping your hands in the proper position.

When taking the stance for the shot it is important that the body is also positioned properly. Your body and feet will be facing to the right while the ball will be smack in the middle of your feet. In order for the ball to sail through the air longer make sure the club face is closed. This will help to give an over-spin to the ball when it leaves the tee.

There are many suggestions on how to hit a draw and one of them is to make the circumference of the backswing much bigger so that the club would be travelling more on an inside curve. For the shot to be successful, the forearms and the hands must continue to rotate during the impact and the club face should be somewhat closed. This can be achieved by a smooth and relaxed attempt.

This shot will take skill and practice in order to master it. When you first try the shot do not be upset that it did not work out as planned. Over time you will learn the proper stance and technique and will become a pro at hitting a draw shot.

Mastering a draw not only requires a lot of practice but a healthy dose of patience as well. Having been classified as a field shot practice is best conducted at a driving range and it is only after practicing over a period of time that the shot may turn out to be perfect.

At times, when even repeated practice sessions do not bring about any improvement, there is no need to feel dejected. While standing aside, the individual would also be in a position to pinpoint errors made subconsciously by the golfer so that they can be rectified during the practice.
